Scientific activity
Voronezhsky State Nature Biosphere Reserve was founded in 1923. Since the beginning of 1930s as a separate line of work, the Reserve has been doing the scientific research.

Research Areas:
- Study of beaver biology and ecology, identification of beaver settlements;
- Development of methods for holding beavers in the experimental breeding ground;
- Study of beaver diseases and their causes. The work done in this avenue has increased significantly, thanks to the new parasitology laboratory, whose members are studying natural focal diseases circulating in the Reserve;
- Monitoring of climatic parameters of the environment;
- Floristic and geobotanical studies;
- Phyto-phenological research, calendaring nature;
- Silvicultural research;
- Study of physical-geographical conditions and soil cover;
- Study of ungulates;
- Development of animal capture methods and chemical immobilization of large mammals (deer, wild boar);
- Entomological studies, development of biological methods of forest pest control;
- Ornithological research;
- Study of small mammal;
- Study of burrowing animals;
- Ichthyological research;
- Hydrochemical study of surface waters.
